Description

The Manager of Government Affairs & Policy will handle interactions to position the company as a key government stakeholder and influence strategic policies, focusing on innovative medicine. The candidate will:

  • Work with internal teams to track and analyze policy trends, contributing to activities that influence policy decisions.
  • Enhance the corporate reputation and accelerate patient access to new medicines.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze government policies, regulations, and legislation.
  • Identify and provide early warnings on issues impacting the company.
  • Develop and implement strategies to shape policy in areas such as pricing, reimbursement, regulation, intellectual property, business practices, and healthcare reform.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, including government officials, industry associations, and academia, to influence policy and enhance the company's presence.
  • Represent the company’s vision as a healthcare leader.
  • Implement crisis management to protect the company’s reputation.
  • Align priorities and activities with regional and global counterparts.
  • Engage in broader regional and global policy initiatives.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Experience in policy-related work in pharmaceuticals, government, consulting, etc.
  • Skilled in writing and formulating policy documents in English and Japanese.

Skills

  • Fluent in Japanese and English (oral and written).
  • Understanding of political systems and policy development.
  • Ability to translate complex regulatory and policy issues into clear, actionable steps.
  • Strategic thinking, business acumen, and strong analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of healthcare operations, regulations, and reimbursement.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills.
  • Commitment to integrity and compliance.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a matrixed organization.
  • Proactive and innovative mindset.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • MBA, MPH, or Master’s degree preferred.
